Stuck for Books is a series of talks hosted by children’s books advocate and enthusiast Ruth Concannon that recommends great books for young readers. If you have ever struggled to find good books for a child in your life, or know a young reader who is stuck trying to move on from a particular author or series, Ruth can help.

Stuck for Books is a series of talks hosted by children’s books advocate and enthusiast Ruth Concannon that recommends great books for young readers. 

If you have ever struggled to find good books for a child in your life, or know a young reader who is stuck trying to move on from a particular author or series, Ruth can help.

Stuck for Books will tackle a number of common reading ruts that young readers can find themselves in. Filled with great book recommendations covering readers from picture books to teenage reads and everything in between. 

Stuck for Books is aimed at parents, librarians, teachers, booksellers and book enthusiasts who have a young reader in their life that is in need of some guidance when it comes to books and reading. 

The first talk in the Stuck for Books series will cover picture books and bedtime stories.

About Ruth

Ruth Concannon is a children’s books enthusiast and advocate. Literature and a love of sharing stories with others has always been at the heart of Ruth’s career. 

Ruth’s career began as an intern with Children’s Books Ireland in 2014. Ruth continues to work with Children’s Books Ireland as a reviewer, editor and most notably as a Book Doctor. 

Ruth spent two years as a children’s bookseller and buyer at Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop in Galway and also spent time as a bookseller in the historic Books Upstairs in Dublin.

Taking on the role of Reader in Residence with Dublin City Public Libraries from 2017-2019, Ruth worked with a number of primary schools and library services in the North-East inner city of Dublin.

Ruth holds a BA in English and History, an MA in Children’s and Young Adult Literature from Dublin City University and an MA in Anglo-Irish Literature and Drama from University College Dublin.

Ruth now works as an Education Assistant at The National Library of Ireland as part of the Exhibitions, Learning and Programming department.
