Stuck for Books is a series of talks hosted by children’s books advocate and enthusiast Ruth Concannon that recommends great books for young readers. If you have ever struggled to find good books for a child in your life, or know a young reader who is stuck trying to move on from a particular author or series, Ruth can help.

Stuck for Books will tackle a number of common reading ruts that young readers can find themselves in. Filled with great book recommendations covering readers from picture books to teenage reads and everything in between. 

Stuck for Books is aimed at parents, librarians, teachers, booksellers and book enthusiasts who have a young reader in their life that is in need of some guidance when it comes to books and reading. 

The next talk in the Stuck for Books series is on the topic of stories for worriers taking place on the 17th of May 2023. In this talk Ruth will recommend some fantastic stories on the topic of worrying for readers from 6-12 years.

The first talk in the Stuck for Books series held in November covered recommended reading for early readers. The Stuck for Books Christmas Wishlist talk held in December recommended the best books for Christmas gifts. In February, Stuck for Books explored the topic of graphic novels.

About Ruth

Ruth Concannon is a children’s books enthusiast and advocate. Literature and a love of sharing stories with others has always been at the heart of Ruth’s career. 

For the past eight years Ruth has worked in the world of children’s books in various guises; as a children’s bookseller and buyer, a Reader in Residence, a storyteller, events programmer, a Book Doctor, reviewer, editor and writer.

Ruth holds a BA in English and History, and an MA in Children’s and Young Adult Literature from Dublin City University.
